Pre-installation Checklist
Introduction
This document outlines key considerations and preparatory steps to ensure a smooth and successful installation process. By reviewing and completing this checklist before beginning the installation of VMS software, you can help minimize potential issues and optimize system performance.
Overview
Internet Connection: An internet connection is not required for the software installation.
Administrator Privileges: Ensure that you possess administrator privileges to make system changes.
Browser Compatibility: VMS operates optimally in Google Chrome. For the best performance and user experience, we recommend using Google Chrome browser only.
Video Stream Broadcasting Permissions: If you want to remotely view a video stream from a camera (not from the local server), make sure that video stream broadcasting permissions are configured in the Google Chrome settings:
- Navigate to Google Chrome browser settings at chrome://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure.
- In the "Insecure origins treated as secure" section, enter the host and port of the server where the VMS will be installed to enable access to the system.
- Relaunch Google Chrome so that the changes will take effect.
Operating System Compatibility:
- Ensure that the Windows operating system on the servers is installed with Windows Desktop Experience and corresponds to one of the supported versions:
- Windows 10 PRO
- Windows 11 PRO
- Windows Server 2019 Standard
- Windows Server 2019 Datacenter
- Windows Server 2022 Standard
- Windows Server 2022 Datacenter
- If you use Linux, ensure compatibility by using Ubuntu 20.04 Server (64-bit).
Database Setup: If you prefer to use an external DB, install and configure MySQL/PostgreSQL/MSSQL before proceeding with the VMS installation to establish a connection to the server.
Camera Compatibility: It is necessary to use cameras that support the ONVIF protocol or one of the recommended drivers:
- Axis
- Basic
- Bosch
- Dahua
- Hanwha
- Hikvision
- ONVIF
- RTSP
- Vivotek
- Uniview
- (Milesight, and Panasonic IPro are under development)
